SYNOPSIS
Dexterous is a fun and unique illustrative branding project created to welcome the new joiners of the Fashion Communication department at NIFT. It is aimed at highlighting the dexterity and variable skillset the students of the department possess.
Hence inspiration has been taken from the design of a Swiss Army Knife which displays efficiency and variety.
The final illustration was to be printed on notebooks, hoodies, mugs and badges to be given as a welcome kit.
the identity
The graphic was created in an illustrative toon style to keep it easily understandable, The type was kept simple and clean to compliment the graphic. The colors adopted were contrasting in nature to highlight each element. Each hand represents the different aspects each student experiences in the department.
the inspiration
While creating the graphic the style of the hands was inspired from the Saul Bass artworks. His artworks consisted of flat colors and distinct shapes. These were further modified into more recognizable shapes with outlines for the final graphic.
The branding
The graphic which was illustrated was later incorporated into the welcome kits for the freshers as they joined the department.
The project is done for and with the communication department at NIFT.
